Speaker Profile:

Dr. Bharat Jain has total more than 42 years of Professional Experience in Environment Management. He had worked with Public Health Engineering Department, Government of Rajasthan and Gujarat. He has vast experience of planning of Industrial Estate with necessary infrastructure including STPs and CETPs. He was also involved in carrying out EIA Study.

A former Chief Engineer of GIDC, at present he is working as a Member Secretary of Gujarat Cleaner Production Centre, involved in promotion of Resource Efficiency & Cleaner Production in the industries. At present, he is working on retrofitting of existing Industrial Estates into Eco- Industrial Parks. He is graduated in Civil Engineering with Post Graduate and PhD in Environmental Engineering, also having Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management.

He is Life member of MIE (Institute of Engineers), MIWWA(Indian Water Works Association), He is associated as member with (1) Board of Studies, Gujarat Technology University (2) Board of Studies, PDPU (3) Board of Studies, Marwadi University, Rajkot (4) Academic Council, SDAU, Dantiwada (5) Env. Engg. Courses Committee, V I T, Vellore and (6) Academic Council, Saffrony Institute of Technology, Mehsana.

Webinar description

The Department of Chemical Engineering organized a webinar on “Sustainable Industrial Development” on 15th September 2020. The webinar was organized for all the students, Representatives from various industries and faculty members of Gujarat state as well as other States of India. Prof. N. R. Vaghela (HOD, Chemical Engg.) introduced chief guest of the event and eminent speaker Dr. Bharat Jain, Member Secretary, Gujarat Cleaner Production Centre (GCPC), Gandhinagar, Guest of Honour Dr. Sachin Parikh, Joint Director, Commissionerate of Technical Education, Gandhinagar and Dr. S.R. Joshi, Principal, G.E.C.-Bharuch. Prof. Vaghela has also brief about the objectives of arranging webinar on the occasion of 53rd Engineers’s Day- 2020 celebration and its important aspects. After well come speech, Guest of honour of the event Dr. Sachin Parikh has addressed the participants and invited guests. Dr. S. R. Joshi, Principal, GEC-Bharuch has given information of the institute and also aware about various academic as well as other co-curricular and extracurricular activities going for the students and faculty development.

Dr. Bharat Jain, Chief Guest and speaker of the event started the webinar on Sustainable Industrial Development. He has discussed and covered many aspect of sustainable industrial development which includes industrial development and role of Engineer`s, ecology and environment, Environmental challenges, Industrial development in Gujarat, Environmental protection measures in Gujarat, Golden corridors of Gujarat, Balance between ecology and economy, identification and characterization of wastes, implementation of cleaner production technology with its various tools, Good housekeeping as a most important CP tool and its implementation methodology, RECP methodology, Strategies for sustainable industrial development and its benefits and Circular economy.

Dr. Jain has shared more than 40 years of work experience where he has contributed to the society as well as industries in the field of cleaner production technology, green chemistry and sustainable industrial development.

The session ended with a vote of thanks by Prof. A. M. Patel, Co-ordinator of the webinar to all invited dignitaries, Participants, invited guests and staff members of GEC-Bharuch for their valuable time for making the webinar successful.
