Industrial visit description:
Bharuch District Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd., “Dudhdhara Dairy”, Bharuch is procuring milk from more than 600 villages of Bharuch & Narmada Districts and also selling its quality milk & milk products to the people of Bharuch & Narmada District under the well known Brand named “AMUL” & “DUDHDHARA”.
Our industrial visit started at around 11:00 am. Shri Aayush Patel in charge of plant explained whole process of processing of milk.. He took us to Pasteurization unit, Homogenization unit, Ghee making unit, Paneer making unit and maintenance section .
Since last 50 years The Bharuch Milk Union had an average milk procurement of 30000 LPD to 35000 LPD. Now it has been increased within 3 years of time to 300000 LPD. Bharuch District is located in between Surat and Baroda, which are big districts having big cities, where there is high potentiality of milk & milk product sales. At present Dairy has 600 rural milk co-op. having more than affiliated 59,200 milk producer members. Dairy has installed Electronic milk fat testing machines to all 100 % milk co-operative societies. About 400 milk co-operative societies are having computerized milk collection system.
Learning by Students:
Students very well understood unit operations and unit processes in milk processing. They have also learnt working of various equipments like spray dryer, Centrifugal separators and packaging sections. They have learnt working of Reverse Osmosis plant along with Cleaning and processing of equipments also.
