Programme Summary:
GUJCOST- Gandhinagar financially sponsored,
CTE-Gandhinagar approved one week online webinar (STTP) on “The Role of Green Chemical Technology in
Sustainable Development” (GTSD-21) in association with IIChE students’
Chapter GEC Bharuch has been organized in Chemical Engineering Department,
Government Engineering College, Bharuch.
Duration:
5th April- 16th April 2020 (Equivalent to 01 week or 30
hrs)
Objective:
The main objective
of organizing this STTP is to impart knowledge regarding existing and emerging
technologies and innovations to achieve better waste and recycling outcomes
across different locations, scales, waste streams and materials.
Participants:
Total 117 Faculty members of Degree and Diploma colleges from Gujarat and students of Chemical Engineering
discipline across Gujarat and India.
In
this STTP, total 20 technical sessions have been planned for duration of 1.5 hrs
each. Total twenty different eminent speakers have delivered expert talks. This
STTP has planned for 10 days (02 sessions /day during 02.00 pm to 5.00 p.m)

Summary of Event:
Inaugural Ceremony:
The “GTSD-21” STTP began with the
inauguration ceremony which was graced by the Chief Guest of the event Prof. (Dr.)
Sachin Parikh, Joint Director, CTE Gandhinagar. The inauguration ceremony started
with the Saraswati Vandana. Prof. N.R.Vaghela, Asso. Prof. & Head, Chemical
Engg.Dept. & convener of STTP enlightened the participants about the
importance of this training program.
Dr.
S.R. Joshi, Principal, GEC-Bharuch & Patron of STTP explained how
such programs help in developing Research & Development activities in
educational institutes. Prof. (Dr.) Sachin Parikh, Joint Director,
CTE-Gandhinagar & Chief Guest of Inaugural ceremony has explained the primary objective of this Endeavour to inculcate and nurture the culture of
research amongst all of the participants and also guided about the integration of
research in academics, as GEC Bharuch is near to Ankleshwar and Dahej
Industrial Zone.

by Prof. A. M. Patel, Co-ordinator of STTP. Dr. N.H.Tahilramani , Co-ordinator
of STTP Co-ordinated the inaugural ceremony
and encouraged participants to
come forward and take maximum benefits of this training programme.

Associate Professor, Chemical Engineering Department, SVNIT-Surat delivered an expert talk on “The
use of Ultrasound in Crystallization”
Day-8: 14th of April 2021.
Session-2: Dr. N.H.Tahilramani, Asst. Professor, Chemical Engineering Department,
GEC-Bharuch delivered an expert talk on “Extraction of
heavy metals from aqueous solutions”
Day-9: 15th of April 2021.
Session-1: Dr. Nitin Padhiyar, Assistant Professor, Chemical Engineering Department, IIT- Gandhinagar delivered an expert talk on “Impact of a packed bed reactor with spherical geometry on the production of H2 gas from natural gas”
Session-2:Shri M. N. Vyas, Ex. General Manager,
IPCL-Vadodara delivered an expert talk on “Safety in Process Industries”.
Day-10: 16th of April 2021.
Valedictory Ceremony:
The
training program (STTP) ended with the valedictory ceremony which was graced
with the presence of Dr. S. R. Joshi, Principal, G.E.C.-Bharuch, and Dr.
R.Sengupta, Rtrd. Professor, Chemical Engineering Department, FT&E,
M.S.U.-Vadodara.
Dr.
S.R.Joshi, Principal, G.E.C.-Bharuch in his well-come address appreciated the
efforts are given in this STTP by Chemical Engineering Department as a team and Co-ordinators
of STTP Prof. A. M. Patel and Dr. N. H. Tahilramani. Dr. S. R. Joshi also
explained the importance of incorporating such training programs to enhance
research culture in this institute. He
emphasized the need for such programs which provide a unique opportunity to
explore the boundaries of currently known various domains of Engineering and
Technology through a different range of research experiences.
Dr.
R.Sengupta blessed with kind words by congratulating Co-ordinators and
organizing committee for organizing the successful STTP “GTSD-2021”. The valedictory
function ended with feedback from participants and the vote of thanks given by
STTP Co-ordinator, Dr. N. H. Tahilramani.
